    Singapore - In a significant step toward strengthening cybersecurity in Southeast Asia, the ASEAN Japan Cybersecurity Community Alliance (AJCCA) and the South East Cybersecurity Consortium (SEA-CC) signed a memorandum of understanding, witnessed by Singapore’s Minister of State for Digital Development and Information, Ms. Rahayu Mahzam, and AJCCA Chairman, Dr. Rudi Lumanto. The signing, held during Singapore’s Cybersecurity Week, marks a pivotal moment for both organizations in their joint mission to create a safer digital environment within the ASEAN region.

    This agreement establishes SEA-CC as AJCCA’s second global partner, solidifying their shared commitment to advancing cybersecurity initiatives throughout the region. Both organizations are eager to expand their reach and deliver meaningful cybersecurity improvements that benefit society.

    Dr. Rudi Lumanto expressed confidence in the partnership’s potential, stating, "Collaborating with various regional communities will strengthen security awareness and accelerate our goal of enhancing cybersecurity capacity." He emphasized the necessity of these partnerships in ensuring that ASEAN is prepared for the growing challenges of cyber threats.

    During the AJCCA conference, Dr. Rudi, representing the Association of Information Security Professionals (AiSP), also awarded prizes in the first AiSP ASEAN Bug Bounty Challenge. Team Unicorn won the top prize of SGD 4,000, with Mr. Christophe Vantet taking second place with SGD 3,200. The challenge underscored the importance of nurturing cybersecurity talent and innovation to protect the region's digital infrastructure.

    This partnership and the success of the Bug Bounty Challenge reflect AJCCA’s ongoing dedication to promoting regional cooperation and elevating cybersecurity standards across ASEAN.

    Singapore, October 2024 — In conjunction with the ongoing ASEAN Japan Cybersecurity Community Alliance (AJCCA) Conference, held on 17 October 2024 during Cyber Security Week in Singapore, AJCCA proudly announced the recipients of the first-ever Cybersecurity Resilience Awards (ACRA). These prestigious awards were established to honor individuals who have made outstanding contributions to enhancing cyber resilience in their respective countries across ASEAN and Japan.

    The head of the award committee, Dr. Hiroshi Esaki, explained that the ACRA initiative seeks to recognize key figures who have been instrumental in advocating for cybersecurity and resilience in the region. "This initiative celebrates individuals who have shown remarkable leadership and dedication to cybersecurity in Japan and ASEAN countries," Dr. Esaki stated. "It has the potential to positively influence the broader cybersecurity community, fostering a culture of resilience and collaboration."

    ACRA Lead Coordinator, Sam Jacoba, further noted that the awards highlight exemplary achievements from 2019 to August 2024. "Nominees are assessed based on five core criteria that align with AJCCA’s Vision, Mission, and Values," he said. "These criteria are: Dynamic Leadership, Resilience, Trustworthiness, Respect, and Collaboration."

    The inaugural ACRA 2024 awards recognized 19 individuals from Japan and ASEAN countries for their unwavering dedication to advancing AJCCA’s vision of "a dynamic and resilient cybersecurity community in our region through trustworthy and respectful collaboration." Among the awardees were two distinguished representatives from Brunei, Dr. Rosyzie Anna Awg Hj Md Apong and Mohamad Azad Zaki Haji Mohd Tahir, whose contributions have been critical to promoting cybersecurity and resilience within Brunei and the broader region. Their efforts have strengthened Brunei’s role in ensuring a secure and resilient digital ecosystem across ASEAN and Japan.

    This initiative represents a significant milestone in AJCCA’s mission to promote collaboration and resilience among its members, driving future advancements in the cybersecurity landscape throughout Southeast Asia and Japan.

    Brunei, September 2024 - The 2nd Cyber Security Conference 2024 successfully concluded on 18th and 19th September, marking a significant step forward in enhancing cyber vigilance and promoting data sovereignty. The two-day event, bigger than its predecessor, gathered government officials, businesses, and individuals to collectively address the growing cyber threats in today’s digital landscape.


    The afternoon ceremony was officiated by Yang Berhormat Pengiran Dato Seri Setia Shamhary bin Pengiran Dato Paduka Haji Mustapha, Minister of Transport and Infocommunications and Minister responsible for Cyber Security. In his keynote speech, he emphasized the vital role all stakeholders play in protecting the nation's digital infrastructure.


    The morning session of the first day started with opening remarks by the President of the BCSA, Mohamad Azad Zaki bin Mohd Tahir, highlighted the need for collaboration across sectors to safeguard the digital world.


    The event included a series of talks and forums led by distinguished speakers from various cybersecurity providers and vendors, all sharing the common goal of safeguarding the integrity of the digital space. Alongside the event, an exhibition was held to showcase their cybersecurity services. Additionally, the final round of Cyber Battle 2024, an annual Jeopardy-style capture the flag competition for aspiring cybersecurity enthusiasts from Brunei Darussalam, took place.

    From May 20 to 22, 2024, in Siem Reap, Cambodia, our President, Mohammad Azad Zaki Haji Mohd Tahir, is representing BCSA in the program initiate by the ASEAN-Japan Cybersecurity Community Alliance (AJCCA). The goal is to create a vibrant and cyber-resilient Asia, and we are working toward this goal with officials from various other nations. We are working together on a number of important projects, including making sure that knowledgeable cybersecurity experts are equipped to handle ever-more-serious cyberattacks, exchanging threat intelligence to warn others about new dangers, and sharing our work and findings to encourage other organizations to take similar steps to improve cybersecurity in the area.

    Together, we are improving the cybersecurity capabilities of the region by cultivating solid partnerships and encouraging the sharing of best practices and expertise. By offering member nations a special forum to band together against changing cyberthreats, the AJCCA makes sure that our combined efforts result in a more secure digital environment. We are steadfast in our commitment to protecting our communities and advancing the creation of a robust and safe cyberspace for everybody through these continuing efforts.

    Brunei Cyber Security Association, in collaboration with ITPSS Sdn Bhd, Women in Cyber Security Brunei and Tyne Solutions, was thrilled to announce the successful conclusion of the Ladies in Cyber event entitled "Bridging the Gap: Empowering Women In Cybersecurity."  This event aimed to empower and connect women in the dynamic and ever-evolving field of cybersecurity took place on February 16, 2024, at The Rizqun International Hotel.

    In an era where technology and cybersecurity play an increasingly pivotal role, fostering diversity and inclusion in the industry is paramount. The networking event seeks to create a platform for women to connect, share insights, and inspire others in a supportive and collaborative environment.
